Constitutive General Assembly of April 6th, 2007, in Kidal

Following the first encounter of mountain people from Northern Africa held in Nador (Morocco) in November 2006 by WMPA, we have been active during several months in sensitizing a lot of stakeholders and representatives of mountain communities from North Mali who were very numerous to attend Kidal meeting on 6th APril 2007. This General Assembly was hosted by the Deputy ALGHABASS AG INTALLA, in his residence.

After a thorough discussion on the WMPA's objectives and the interest to found a section in Mali, the Assembly took the decision to constitute today the WMPA-MALI and to adopt its statutes.

The Assembly elected the Executive Board of WMPA-Mali, as follows :

• AHMADA AG BIBI, Vice-president (porte parole of the alliance démocratique pour le changement)

Organised by WMPA (World Mountain People Association) in collaboration with the Secretary of State for Rural Development and the Tarik Ibn Zyad Centre.

With the participation of the Minister for Agriculture, the Secretary of State for rural development and a significative delegation of representatives of associations and local authorities from Morocco and France, this meeting allowed - starting from the French experience of the "mountain law" - an exchange on the theme :

 « The public policies facing the specificities of mountain territories : exchange of experience between France and Morocco"
