So as to prepare the debates of the world meeting in Oloron, the WMPA carried out MDCS (Multidimensional Case Studies) in the different massifs of the world in 2010 alongside with the preparation of the charter on the natural resources management on the occasion of the programme "Communities, Territories and Natural Resources Management" supported by the FPH.

These case studies make appear confrontational situations in which the communities are involved to keep controlling and mastering the natural resources in front of the institutional entities (Central State, local powers, multinationals, international organisations…) and question the means of managing and governing the resources in mountain territories (management scales, roles of the local actors, possibilities and means of recovery, joint management or redistribution of natural wealth).

At the same time as these case studies, regional workshops were organised in MAROC (May 13th to 16th 2010), in BOLIVIA (April 20th to 22nd 2010), in COLOMBIA (May 19th to 20th 2010), in CHINA (July 2010) and in France.
